About the role

We're looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails developer to help us build the next generation of our marketplace.

The candidate will be working directly with the company's founder, who is technical and knowledgeable of Rails and web technologies.

The founder himself built version 1 and will work with the developer to help build version 2.

The job can be done from anywhere, but European or US timezone work is preferred. This is a 20hr/week minimum role, with the option of working more.

We expect the job to be a long-term role in which the developer will work on future projects related to the marketplace once it is completed.

The Rails developer must have experience building entire web applications in Rails from start to finish.

We use RoR with Redis and ElasticSearch and have good test coverage. We use Vue for part of our front-end with small sprinkles of JS in jQuery.  We communicate mostly on Github.

The Rails developer must be:

- Very knowledgeable of web application security and writing secure Rails code

- 4+ years of commercial or project based experience

- Able to build high-performance web applications

- Able to create highly readable code using Rails conventions

- Able to build responsive HTML 5 interfaces from Balsamiq mockups.
